About

There Are Two Things I’ve Always Wanted in Life:

One – To Work with Numbers.  And Two – To Own My Own Business.

This is why I love my bookkeeping work – and my entrepreneurial clients, just like you – so much!
Not only do I get to spend all day every day working deeply with numbers and turning them into real-world solutions.
I’m also lucky enough to spend a ton of time working with and helping kindred spirits in the entrepreneurial world, too!
However, it took me 5 years before I finally got to this amazing place.

Here’s the story: It All Started In A High School Accounting Class

How can I have my own business helping people with their finances if I’m not a CPA?” I kept wondering.
And then, in 2017, I figured it out: I don’t have to be a CPA – I can become a bookkeeper! And just like that, the spark and the curiosity I had lost after 17 years in corporate was back. One bookkeeping course turned into multiple financial software certifications. Then the clients started to come in. And I kept learning and reading everything I could get my hands on. Then I got my certification to prepare taxes in Maryland.  And more clients continued to sign up. My business kept growing.  I kept learning about everything-bookkeeping, and even took business-related courses in marketing, copywriting and more. And then even MORE clients came.

Now I’m studying to get my EA (Enrolled Agent) certification to expand my skills.  It was just the natural next step in the pursuit of continually improving my ability to serve my clients in bigger and better ways.

But First, I Spent 17 Years in the Business World

When I told my college advisor about my CPA dreams, she suggested an alternate route: “Start with the Business Administration Transfer program here at the community college,” she said. “Transfer to a four-year school to get a Bachelor’s Degree.  THEN apply for the accounting program.” So, I followed her advice. I finished the transfer program, and went on to earn a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University of College, all the while working a non-accounting corporate job. I even went one step further, and earned my Master’s Degree in Project Management from Southern New Hampshire University.

After that, I switched to a comfortable career in Project Management at a government facility… but I knew something was still missing. After all, my education had been driven by two factors: One – my love of numbers.  And two – a desire to own my own business. And yet, in my current job… I really wasn’t doing either. So, I went back to my roots, and those accounting dreams I had as a 17-year-old nerd.

And That’s When I Started My Own Bookkeeping Business

How can I have my own business helping people with their finances if I’m not a CPA?” I kept wondering.
